James Bond Gets 3 New Weapons in 007 First Light Update

James Bond got his first content update in 007 First Light on Friday, and the patch adds two TacSim missions, three weapons, and a new outfit. It also lands with a sharply different download size on PlayStation than on the other platforms carrying the game.

IO Interactive’s June roadmap had already pointed to future content, including a story DLC mission centered around pirate king Bawma, but this Friday release is the first thing players can actually load now. The update expands the game’s available content immediately rather than holding everything for a later drop.

Q's Workshop and Extraction Avenue

Two brand-new TacSim missions lead the update. The Workshop sends Bond into Q's workshop for a stealth mission, while Extraction Avenue pushes him through the level until reinforcements arrive. That split gives players a quick read on the patch’s design: one mission is built around silence and careful movement, the other around a faster, louder route through the level.

Three new weapons arrive alongside those missions: the Stormberg 50'cal pistol at Clearance Level 10, the DRX-2 Machine Pistol at Clearance Level 12, and the DRS-7 Silenced SMG at Clearance Level 16. Each one costs 3,000 intel to unlock, so the content is live, but the full loadout still sits behind a grind. A separate 007 First Light Update note had already tracked the game’s post-launch cleanup, and this patch keeps that support pattern going.

Diamond in the Rough

The update also adds the relaxed Diamond in the Rough outfit for Bond at Clearance Level 18, with a 3,000 Intel price tag attached. That creates the sharpest friction in the patch: the update is being framed as free new DLC, yet the weapons and outfit still require players to earn intel before they can equip them.

Friday’s patch is under 4 GB on most platforms, but PlayStation gets a 23.84 GB download. That gap is large enough to matter in practical terms, because the same content lands through very different storage demands depending on where players are installed.

Bug fixes and stability improvements are part of the same update, including crash fixes on Xbox Series S, animation improvements, and translation errors. IO Interactive said, "This update demonstrates our team's commitment to refining the 007 First Light experience," and the message is consistent with the patch itself: content on top, cleanup underneath.

For players, the immediate move is simple. Install the update, then decide whether the two TacSim missions are worth the intel cost for the Stormberg 50'cal pistol, the DRX-2 Machine Pistol, the DRS-7 Silenced SMG, and the Diamond in the Rough outfit. The only bigger item left on the board is the story DLC mission tied to Bawma, which sits in the earlier roadmap rather than this Friday’s release.
