Derbyshire Police are appealing for witnesses after a red Hyundai left the A38 in Derby and crashed into trees at about 23:00 BST on Saturday, killing four people. The driver survived with serious injuries and remains in hospital.
The crash happened between the A50 Toyota Island and the A516. Police said the four dead were two women aged 18 and 30, a man aged 36, and a baby girl who died shortly after being taken to hospital.

Police said everyone involved was from Leeds in West Yorkshire. The A38 carriageway was closed for several hours before reopening, and Derbyshire Police said relatives had been informed and were being supported by specialist officers.

The driver, a 33-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after being taken to hospital. Police have asked anyone who saw the crash or has dashcam footage to contact them, as investigators work to establish how the Hyundai left the road.
That question now sits at the centre of the inquiry: what made the car leave the A38 and hit the trees. The answer will come from witnesses, footage and the road inquiry, not from the crash scene itself.
