Elizabeth Waddell Grenada ended the morning of Wednesday, July 22, with a missing-person report after the Cary mother was last seen around 8 a.m. near Grand Anse Beach in St. George’s. She had been vacationing in Grenada with a friend and was staying at an Airbnb.
Amanda Romano-Harmon said the pair had been traveling and sightseeing. “The two of them went down there, and they just been vacationing and sightseeing and taking in all that Grenada has to offer,” Romano-Harmon said.
Grand Anse Beach sighting
Romano-Harmon said Waddell put on her swimsuit and stepped outside their Airbnb. She said the friend was taking an online course, looked up later, and did not see Waddell outside. When she walked around, Romano-Harmon said, she found Waddell’s towel down on the pier.
Romano-Harmon said, “They had a pool that overlooked the bay. Liz was set up out there just sightseeing from the pool, and her friend was taking her online course. When she got through with her course, she looked up and she didn't see Liz outside, so she went outside to walk around and see where she went, and she saw her towel down on the pier. So the only thing we can think is maybe she went for a swim.” That timeline leaves the last known movement centered on the water and the pier, not on a wider area.
Royal Grenada Police Force search
The Royal Grenada Police Force asked anyone with tips to contact police. The missing-person poster said police are in contact with fishermen, boat operators, and residents along the southern coastline, which puts the search in the places most likely to have seen movement after the sighting near Grand Anse Beach.
Cailen Waddell said he had been in Grenada with his daughter since Friday. “My wife is a loving, free-spirited person,” he said. “She could make friends with anyone. She often did... and was always willing to help someone.”

Romano-Harmon added a broader portrait of the missing woman. “Everybody's a friend for Liz. Liz has the adventure bug. She loves to travel, and there's not a hike she didn't like that she wanted to try,” she said. “She's a ray of sunshine, and she just she loves to meet new people and experience different cultures and see what the world has to offer. She's a great friend.”
Waddell is 44 years old, has short blonde hair, and is 5 feet tall. She is also the founder of Art of Movement Physical Therapy and has a doctorate in physical therapy from UNC-Chapel Hill. For family and friends, the immediate need is practical: keep sharing her description, keep reporting tips to police, and focus on the southern coastline where the search is active.
