AnMed said an anmed cyber attack involving malware is causing a phone and internet outage across all of its hospital locations. Care teams remained on site and continued to see patients in the emergency room, while some patients were diverted to hospitals in Greenville.
AnMed Medical Group Closures
The system said AnMed Medical Group offices were closed Monday, July 27, and AnMed Imaging Services were also closed that day. Patients with elective procedures scheduled for Monday, July 27, were to be contacted directly by AnMed staff with additional information.
AnMed said AnMed Urgent Care locations, AnMed Kids Care, AnMed Integrated Therapy locations and AnMed Laboratory Services were scheduled to open on Monday, July 27. The hospital system said decisions on procedures, patient transfers, diversions and other operations were being made with patient safety as the guiding principle.
MyCharts And Greenville Diversions
The outage hit communications first. AnMed said it was working with third-party cybersecurity specialists and with state and federal authorities as it tried to restore service as quickly as possible. The disruption also affected MyCharts, with a patient describing the situation inside as scary and saying MyCharts were down.
AnMed said it was coordinating with emergency medical services, regional hospitals and public safety partners to keep patients in the most appropriate setting. For patients trying to reach a doctor, schedule care or check records, the immediate question is whether their location is open before going in, because several services were operating while others were closed.
