Police have released CCTV footage after an assault outside Alexandra Palace during the World Darts Championship, in a case linked to Lobster Darts and a distinctive costume that may help identify the suspect.

The Metropolitan Police say the incident happened on Saturday, 13 December 2025, when a man in his 20s attended the tournament at Alexandra Palace. Around 16:30hrs, after leaving the venue, he encountered a group of men dressed as lobsters before being punched and knocked unconscious on the venue’s concourse.

The victim was taken to hospital with injuries that were serious significant but non-life-threatening, and later contacted police. On 27 July 2026, officers appealed for information and released a CCTV image of the suspect in the hope that someone who was at the event, or in the area at the time, may recognise him.

What police say happened

Detective Constable Lizzie Coster said the case involved an assault outside a major sporting event and stressed that the suspect was wearing a distinctive costume. She added that the force’s thoughts were with the victim and that they hoped for the best for his recovery.

The key focus now is identification. Police are asking attendees, and anyone else who may have seen what happened outside Alexandra Palace, to come forward if the CCTV image prompts any memory of the suspect.

Why the CCTV appeal matters

In cases like this, the first breakthrough often comes from public recognition rather than forensic detail alone. A costume can be memorable, and officers believe that is why the image could be important.

The release also underlines how quickly an event outside a major venue can escalate. What began as a crowd around the World Darts Championship ended with one man unconscious, hospital treatment and a long-running investigation.

For now, the Metropolitan Police are relying on the public to help identify the man they want to speak to. Anyone who recognises the person in the CCTV footage may be able to help move the case forward.
