Liverpool's pre-season plans were thrown off on Tuesday after heavy rain and thunderstorms left New York under a flood watch and disrupted air travel ahead of Wednesday's match against Wrexham.
The squad was unable to fly from Chicago to New York City, where Liverpool were scheduled to face Wrexham at Yankee Stadium at 7.30pm local time, which is 12.30am BST.
Travel disruption and a packed schedule
Chicago had been Liverpool's training base for the tour, so the delay affected more than just the trip to New York. It also came on a day when the club had other commitments in the city, including a New York event to launch Liverpool's new Adidas away kit on Tuesday evening.
The Empire State Building was lit up red for Liverpool on Tuesday as part of the club's New York presence, but the weather quickly became the bigger story.
After the Wrexham game, Liverpool were due to return to Chicago and finish the tour with a game against Leeds. The disruption did not change the wider schedule on paper, but it did make the lead-up to the Wrexham fixture less straightforward than planned.
