Arrowhead has fully revealed the Helldivers 2 Warhammer Warbond, and the Helldivers 2 x Warhammer 40,000 Castellan’s Creed Legendary Warbond launched on August 12. For players, the immediate takeaway is simple: the crossover is live, but it does not use a Premium Warbond token.
Arrowhead paired the reveal with a first look at the weapons and armor inside the Legendary Warbond. The package includes a primary weapon, a sidearm, a stratagem, a throwable, medium armor, and heavy armor, which turns the crossover from a cosmetic nod into a full loadout drop.
Alex Bolle and April last year
Alex Bolle, production director on Helldivers 2, was asked about a potential Warhammer 40,000 crossover in April last year. That earlier exchange now looks like the first step in a long runway to this release, especially after fans had already treated Warhammer 40,000 as a natural fit for the game.
Arrowhead said the Warbond is inspired by the Astra Militarum regiment, the Cadian Kasrkin, and tied its look to the deployment of advanced firearms, armor, patterns and more in honor of the Helldivers who gave their lives in a heroic last stand to defend Chara during the First Galactic War. The studio’s own framing pushes the crossover beyond surface-level branding and into in-universe tribute territory.
Warbond loadout details
The stratagem is described as a short-ranged, superheated beam of thermal energy capable of reducing steel to slag. The throwable is a proximity activated burst mine, while the medium armor carries +20 weapon handling and +30% reload speed for support weapons.
The heavy armor carries the same +20 weapon handling and +30% reload speed for support weapons. That makes the new set more than a theme bundle: it is a ruleset for how the Warbond plays, and it gives players a concrete reason to compare it against other loadouts rather than buying on name recognition alone.
Premium Warbond token limit
The complication is access. The Warbond cannot be claimed with a Premium Warbond token, so anyone sitting on that token will not be able to use it here. Arrowhead’s description leans hard into the crossover pitch — “Roll the dice to break the traitorous enemies of Super Earth in this historic crossover Legendary Warbond,” and “Fight for Liberty without measuring distance, line-of-sight or your target’s chances of survival with potent weapons, formidable armor, and so much more.”
That makes this a premium-style release with a hard gate at the point of entry, and the launch on August 12 is the part that matters most to Helldivers deciding whether to spend now or hold out for the next drop. Arrowhead has given the full shape of the Warbond; the only missing piece in the source is how much the Castellan’s Creed Legendary Warbond costs.
