Fandango now has Supergirl available to rent or buy, giving viewers a home option after the film's disappointing summer run. The movie will also arrive on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD on Sept. 8, 2026, with more than 90 minutes of bonus features included.
Milly Alcock leads the home release
Milly Alcock stars as Kara Zor-El in the second feature film in James Gunn and Peter Safran's rebooted DC Universe. In the bonus features, she is identified as having transformed throughout the process, a useful clue to how the film was built around a first feature lead rather than a familiar franchise handoff.
Prime Video, Apple TV and Fandango At Home are carrying the digital release now. The film can be purchased for $24.99 or rented for $19.99, and rental viewing starts within 30 days and must be finished within 48 hours once it begins.
$124 million against $290 million
Supergirl grossed more than $124 million worldwide, with $71 million domestically and $53 million internationally. Warner Bros. and DC spent approximately $170 million to produce the film and another $120 million to market it, a total that leaves the theatrical run well short of the reported combined production and marketing costs.
The film found a warmer reception with audiences than critics, which helps explain why the home rollout is arriving with a built-in second chance. That split matters because a title that underperforms in theaters can still recover attention through digital sales, rentals and physical editions.
HBO Max later this fall
The next step is HBO Max, where Supergirl is expected to begin streaming later this fall. Warner Bros. has not yet announced an official date, so the cleanest path for anyone who wants the film now is the digital rental or purchase window already open.
For viewers, the practical choice is simple: buy the film for immediate library access, rent it for a shorter watch window, or wait for the HBO Max debut later this fall. The Sept. 8, 2026 disc release gives the title a second physical push after the digital phase has already started.
