Marvell Technology Cvx Stock falls 41.4% as Zacks list draws attention

Marvell Technology’s CVX stock drew more attention on Zacks.com after shares fell 41.4% over the past month. The slide came even as the broader S&P 500 gained 1.9% and left the Zacks Electronics - Semiconductors industry down 19.9% in the same period.

That gap puts the focus on estimates, not just price action. Marvell’s current-quarter earnings estimate stands at $0.93 a share, up 38.8% from a year earlier, while the consensus has edged down 0.6% over the last 30 days.

Marvell Technology and Zacks Rank

Marvell Technology received a Zacks Rank #3, or Hold, as the stock remained on Zacks.com’s list of the most searched names. For investors, that combination points to a stock that is getting heavy attention while analyst revisions have softened only slightly.

The current fiscal-year earnings estimate is $4.04 a share, up 42.3% from a year ago, and it has slipped 0.1% over the last 30 days. For the next fiscal year, the estimate is $6.18 a share, up 52.9%, with another 0.1% decline over the past month.

Marvell sales estimates

Sales forecasts show the same pattern. The consensus sales estimate for the current quarter is $2.71 billion, up 35.2% year over year, while the current and next fiscal-year sales estimates are $11.55 billion and $16.63 billion, respectively. Those figures imply growth of 40.9% and 44%.

Marvell’s last reported quarter adds one more reference point: revenues were $2.42 billion, up 27.6% from a year earlier, and EPS was $0.8 versus $0.62 in the same quarter a year ago. The question for investors now is whether the recent drop reflects a durable reset in expectations or a move that has outpaced the company’s still-rising earnings and sales forecasts.
