Michal has not yet made the senior breakthrough that would change the conversation around him, but he has shown enough at youth level to keep the door open. At the WK U20, he scored five goals and helped Les Bleus reach the semifinal. That is real evidence of promise, even if it is not the same as proving yourself in senior football.
His second half of last season loan to FC Metz offered another step, but again, the story is still one of development rather than arrival. That is why this prospective move feels so logical. Monaco get the chance for him to keep growing in Belgium, while Cercle Brugge get an extra attacker who may yet become more than just a useful temporary addition.
And that is the point of it all: this is not some glamorous headline signing, but it does look like smart squad management. Cercle Brugge are reinforcing at the right time, with the right sort of players, and Monaco appear content to let a 21-year-old continue his progress somewhere he might actually play. On paper, anyway, that is the sort of deal both clubs can live with.
