Katie Nolan used Casuals to welcome Boomer Esiason into her SiriusXM orbit by replaying some of his most combustible old comments. The move landed days after Audacy announced a new partnership that will put WFAN and 41 other local radio stations on SiriusXM, making Esiason a satellite-radio presence even though he and Gregg Giannotti will not be SiriusXM employees.
Casuals and the old clips
On the podcast, Nolan called Esiason her “arch-nemesis” and framed the segment as a greeting to a new co-worker. She also told him, “You and your arch-nemesis are going to be co-workers,” then added, “Of course we’re referring to Boomer Esiason. Isabella, not a huge fan.”
Nolan and Isabella Joson then ran through the clips one by one. They went back to 2014, when Esiason said Daniel Murphy should have encouraged his wife to have a scheduled C-section so he could have been available for Opening Day; to late last year, when he suggested a Vagisil endorsement for Suzyn Waldman after Dave Sims cut a promo for Dude Wipes; and to earlier this year, when he called Eileen Gu “insufferable” after the Olympics.
Isabella Joson's reaction
Joson did not treat the segment as a polite introduction. After one clip, she said, “This is a person on-air? They allow him to have a job?” She followed that with, “That’s my new coworker!” and then, “I’m just offended that I wasn’t asked first if he could be my coworker. That’s all I’m saying. I hate that I’m blindsided, but whatever.”
The exchange worked because Nolan did not soften the history. She pretended to be Esiason and acted out how it might go if he introduced himself to his new SiriusXM colleagues, then told him, “Hey, Boomer, welcome to the team, big dog” and “Clean it up, you know? And bring your little laughing friend (Gregg Giannotti).”
WFAN gets wider reach
Audacy’s new partnership last week is the business hinge here. It gives WFAN and 41 other local radio stations a place on SiriusXM, which means Esiason and Giannotti’s morning show will soon be heard there in addition to their usual platforms.
The catch is simple and unusual: the show moves onto SiriusXM distribution without moving the hosts into SiriusXM payroll or studios. That leaves Nolan joking about a colleague who is now on the same service as her podcast while still working outside the company’s employee structure.
Mad Dog's recruiting pitch
Christopher “Mad Dog” Russo had already started recruiting Esiason for a weekly picks segment, giving the new setup another layer of on-air overlap. For listeners, the change is less about a brand-new show than a larger pipe carrying the same voices, with the joke warfare arriving first and the distribution change following behind it.
The open question is how long WFAN and the other 41 local radio stations stay on SiriusXM under the new partnership. Until that answer comes, the practical takeaway is already clear: Esiason’s reach just widened, and Nolan used his own archive to mark the occasion.
