Paige's SummerSlam 2026 night ended with another twist in her ongoing WWE story. After Fatal Influence beat The Bella Twins and Paige in a six-woman tag team match on Night 1, Nikki Bella and Brie Bella attacked Paige in the ring.
The post-match attack was the clearest sign yet that the rivalry has moved into a more personal phase. Paige had already been pulled into the Bellas' changing tag team situation when Nikki was forced out by injury and Paige returned as her replacement. That move helped Brie and Paige win the WWE women's tag team titles at WrestleMania 42 after a Fatal 4-Way tag team match, and the pair went on to defend the belts successfully for the next couple of months.
A rivalry that keeps changing
The turning point came on July 18 at Saturday Night's Main Event at Madison Square Garden in New York City, when Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid defeated Brie and Paige to win the WWE women's tag team championships for the first time. The Bellas' situation got even more complicated on the July 24 episode of SmackDown, when Brie defeated Reid in a singles match before all three Fatal Influence members attacked Brie and Paige, bringing Nikki back into the conflict.
That set the stage for Saturday's six-woman tag team match, which Fatal Influence won. The finish mattered, but the attack afterward mattered more. Nikki Bella and Brie Bella went after Paige in the ring, reinforcing the idea that the Bellas are not done with Fatal Influence or with the fallout from Paige stepping into Nikki's spot.
Nikki's message has been clear throughout the storyline: she sees the Bellas as the standard, and she wants everyone else to remember it. After SummerSlam, that tension looks far from settled.
