Dowden and Gu bring a Strictly Come Dancing link into a cast that also includes Brian Conley, Lucy Conley, Chris Taylor, Toby Aromolaran and JJ Chalmers, giving the season a wider spread of television credentials.

Ray Howard leads The Hunters, an elite team drawn from policing, military and intelligence backgrounds. Their kit includes CCTV, ANPR, facial recognition, helicopters, drones, search dogs, cyber investigations and media appeals, so the pairs are not just hiding from people but from a layered system built to find movement fast.
Amy Dowden joins Celebrity Hunted with Carlos Gu after cancer journey adds another layer to the cast story, because Dowden returns to a pressure-heavy format after announcing her breast cancer diagnosis in 2023 and being appointed an MBE in the 2024 Birthday Honours for services to fundraising and raising awareness of inflammatory bowel disease. Gu, a Chinese-born Latin and ballroom specialist and former Chinese National Champion, won the glitterball in 2025 with Karen Carney.
Brian Conley and JJ Chalmers
Brian Conley’s presence adds a long TV footprint, from The Brian Conley Show in the 1990s to Cotton in EastEnders from 2021 to 2023. Lucy Conley studied at Oxford School of Drama, Chris Taylor first appeared on Love Island in 2019 and later turned up in Love Island All Stars in 2024, had a cameo as a Ken in Barbie in 2023, and took part in Dancing on Ice in 2025.
JJ Chalmers brings the sharpest survival story in the line-up. He is a former Royal Marines Commando who was seriously injured in a bomb blast in Afghanistan in 2011, suffering facial injuries and losing two fingers, which makes the show’s hiding game a very different proposition for him than for the reality-TV crowd around him.
14 days across the country
For viewers, the practical frame is simple: the pairs have 14 days to stay hidden after leaving their riches behind and dispersing across the country. Toby Aromolaran, who joined Love Island in 2021, finished as a runner-up with Chloe Burrows and later appeared in Love Island Games and Love Island All Stars, so his partnership history already reads like a contest inside the contest.
The season’s real value sits in the mismatch between the cast and the hunt. Celebrities can lean on recognisability, but the Hunters have surveillance, vehicle tracking and public appeals on their side, which turns every move into a trade-off between speed, cover and exposure. Which pair gets caught first will probably tell us more about the format than any trailer ever could.
