Spectrum Outages Hit Thousands as RLP-1035 Errors Spread

Thousands reported spectrum outages on Monday evening while trying to use the Spectrum TV app, and many saw the RLP-1035 error code instead of their streams. By 10 p.m. EDT, the app appeared to be working normally again.

Ask Spectrum and DownDetector

Ask Spectrum posted on X that engineers were working to restore issues with the Spectrum TV app, and it apologized for the inconvenience. DownDetector also recorded a surge in complaints, which is the clearest sign that this was not an isolated glitch for a single account.

The reports came from users across the United States, including California, North Carolina, New York, Ohio, Florida and Missouri. That spread points to a service problem affecting more than one area, not just one local connection.

RLP-1035 on screens

One user said, "Down in Los Angeles for the past 30ish minutes. Can't even get into MySpectrum app." Another said, "Spectrum app on the Roku is not working. Other apps are fine. Can't sign in on the Spectrum web site either: \"We're sorry, we are experiencing technical issues and are working to resolve as soon as possible. Please try again later.\" Newburgh, NY."

Another user said, "Here in Columbus, Ohio, the TV app is completely Down. And when you try to call customer service, they have so many people calling them, they cannot take any phone calls right now." Those reports show the outage was not limited to playback inside the app; account access and support channels were strained too.

Spectrum TV app recovery

The Spectrum TV app appeared to recover after the spike in reports, but the reason it failed in the first place was not explained. For users who were locked out, the practical test is simple: if the app loads again, the disruption has passed; if RLP-1035 returns, the problem is still on Spectrum's side.

Vaishnavi Vaidyanathan reported the outage, and Spectrum had not issued an official statement by the time reports stopped increasing. The unanswered issue is what triggered the app failure and why the same error code appeared for so many users at once.
