Craig Revel Horwood says he was stabbed during a holiday in Madrid, then strip searched when he got back. The 61-year-old Strictly Come Dancing judge gave the account on the Judgemental podcast, where the sequence moved from an attack to a search for drugs.
Madrid and the razor blade
He said, “I went on holiday in Madrid and got stabbed, that was nice, and it was stinking hot.” He also said the weapon was a razor blade and that he was slashed in the stomach coming home from a club at about two o'clock in the morning.
Revel Horwood said the attack did more than cut his skin. “My jewellery was stolen as well, they ripped my necklace off my neck and gave me a big burn mark…”
Judgemental podcast with Anton Du Beke
The account came while he was speaking about travel stories on the Judgemental podcast, which he hosts with Anton Du Beke. He said, “But I remember I was dancing at the Lido in Paris, and we went to Madrid for a holiday, so that ended up pretty bad.”
That chronology matters because he was describing a late-night return from a club, not a random interruption in the middle of the day. He said he had already been stabbed and had burn marks all around his neck when the search happened.
Strip search on return
“And then when I got back, I got strip-searched. I hadn’t shaved, so I did look a bit of a wreck, I’d been stabbed, I had burn marks all around my neck from where I was, like, attacked.” He added, “And then the French strip searched me down to literally nothing…. they were looking for drugs.”
It is an unusually invasive follow-on to an assault he says already left him injured and robbed. The practical takeaway is simple: his own account turns one holiday incident into two separate intrusions, with the second happening after the first had already left visible marks.
Mombasa in Kenya
He also said disaster struck on another trip, this time to Mombasa in Kenya. “Got out there, arrived, all the hotels and everything were paid for in advance, they’re giving us a like a bus from the airport to the hotel, and they said on arrival, ‘your hotel has burnt down’…”
He said, “The hotel was burnt down, and no one bothered to tell us until we actually arrived.” For a traveller, that is the only real unresolved point in the story: the Madrid episode is his account of what happened, but the date and any official follow-up were not explained.
