Joseph Parker says his provisional suspension has been lifted after the failed drug test that followed his loss to Fabio Wardley in October, clearing the former world champion to return to the ring soon.
Parker, who was stopped in the 11th round at The O2, said a routine test returned traces of cocaine. The development had left him facing the possibility of a ban of up to two years, putting his heavyweight career on hold while the case was reviewed.

The lifting of the suspension removes the immediate barrier to Parker resuming his career, and that matters because the 34-year-old was still very much in the championship picture before the setback. He had won six straight contests before the Wardley fight and had also been the WBO mandatory challenger to undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk.
Parker’s recent run has been a reminder of how quickly momentum can swing in the heavyweight division. He lost his belt to Anthony Joshua in 2018, suffered a punishing loss to Joe Joyce in 2022, then rebuilt with the six-fight winning streak that helped put him back in position for major opportunities.
The Wardley fight was another major moment, and the timing of the positive test only added to the uncertainty around what came next. Parker was also due to challenge Daniel Dubois in February, but Dubois fell ill just days before the fight was meant to take place.
On Wednesday, Parker confirmed the latest update himself, saying: “I'm pleased to confirm my provisional suspension is lifted and I'll be back in the ring soon.” He added that he had been advised to say no more for now while details are finalised, and thanked his supporters.
For Parker, the immediate news is straightforward: the suspension is no longer in place. The longer-term question is how quickly he can move back into the heavyweight mix after a period that threatened to halt his progress entirely.
