Topps Chrome update basketball goes on preorder Thursday, Aug. 6 at 12 p.m. ET, with 2025-26 Topps Chrome Updates Basketball available through EQL and Topps.com. Collectors who want Hobby or Jumbo boxes now have a specific window to enter, but the split across both sales channels means access is not a simple first-come checkout.
Topps.com and EQL on Aug. 6
The preorder opens at 12 p.m. ET on Thursday, Aug. 6. That gives collectors a fixed start time instead of an open-ended drop, which is the part people actually need when a product is expected to move fast.
Hobby and Jumbo boxes are the formats in play. Hobby boxes guarantee one autograph. Jumbo boxes guarantee three autographs. For buyers, that difference is the main reason the two box types are treated as separate targets rather than interchangeable inventory.
Rookie Debut Patch Autographs
The product brings Rookie Debut Patch Autographs into basketball. Those cards are one-of-one pieces that pair a game-worn NBA Debut patch with an autograph, which makes each card singular by design rather than by print run.
The rookie names attached to that chase include Cooper Flagg, Dylan Harper, and Kon Knueppel. The checklist also leads with Ace Bailey, VJ Edgecombe, Derik Queen, and Yang Hansen, so collectors chasing the rookie side are not looking at a one-player product.
Flagg, James, and the checklist
The checklist reaches beyond the 2025 rookie class. It also includes LeBron James, Victor Wembanyama, Stephen Curry, Luka Dončić, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and Anthony Edwards.
The release also adds Chrome inserts such as Radiating Rookies, Helix, Glass Canvas, Alter Egos, Celebración, Paradox, Fanatical, and Minionfractor. Topps Chrome Autographs, 1980-81 Topps Basketball Autographs, Future Stars Autographs, and Rookie Autographs Lava Lamp are part of the mix as well.
Availability for Hobby and Jumbo
Topps says availability for Hobby and Jumbo is split between EQL and Topps.com. That means collectors will have to follow the entry system rather than assume every box lands in one place at one time.
The practical question left on the table is allocation. The release gives a start time and the sales channels, but it does not spell out how many Hobby and Jumbo boxes will be available through EQL versus Topps.com.
