Bitcoin Red Team Reports 4,962 Findings in 27.5 Hours — Bitcoin Price Today

Bitcoin price today was not the headline. The Bitcoin Red Team said it filed 4,962 findings after 27.5 hours of AI-assisted auditing across 390 open source projects, a pace that puts security review at the center of Bitcoin software risk.

Calle said the team had already logged 85 critical issues and 635 high-severity issues in that window. His update gives developers and users a fast-moving count of what needs fixing now, not a distant audit summary.

Calle’s 27.5-hour tally

4,962 findings came out of the first 27.5 hours, and Calle tied that total to work across 390 projects. He said, “27.5 hours in, we’ve filed 4,962 findings across 390 projects. 85 critical and 635 high severity issues. We’re at 2.31 h+c findings per person per hour.”

85 critical issues and 635 high-severity issues move the report beyond raw volume. Those numbers point to code that can demand immediate triage, because the audit is not just surfacing minor cleanup items; it is identifying problems that can affect Bitcoin open source software at the top end of severity.

OpenSats-funded AI audit

390 open source projects were included in the sweep, with the work backed by more than $40,000 in AI tokens. The Red Team used Kimi K3, GPT Sol, Fable, Opus and GLM5.2, while OpenAI gave the group access to GPT Sol and Hamilton said access to Anthropic had also been established.

171,599 lines of code was one point in the harness’s growth, and Hamilton said the custom system was evolving quickly. He also said the harness is designed to identify and test critical Bitcoin software libraries and high-load-bearing code, identify and document vulnerabilities, reproduce them and package the proven data into useful reports.

Bitcoin users do not need the full audit machinery, but developers of affected tools do need to pay attention to the output. If the findings are duplicated, the useful work is in separating repeated alerts from the issues that require patches, because the remediation burden sits with the projects receiving the reports.

The Red Team also said it intends to open source the harness, which would let others inspect the method that produced the counts. What has not been identified is which specific Bitcoin open source projects received the 4,962 findings, and that list will determine where the first fixes land.
