Melanie C said Victoria Beckham missed her July wedding because the former Spice Girls bandmate was in New York with David Beckham for the football final and World Cup commitments. The explanation came after Melanie “Mel C” Chisholm shared wedding photos on Aug. 2 and clarified why one of the day’s most visible absences never turned into a no-show by choice.

Chisholm married Chris Dingwall in July and later posted photos of the guests on Instagram on Aug. 2. Geri Halliwell-Horner, Emma Bunton and Melanie “Mel B” Brown attended, while Beckham did not, even though Chisholm thanked her in the caption for designing her beautiful dress.
Chisholm also said her wedding moved beyond a guest list reveal. She described it as amazing and perfect, and said several Spice Girls songs played during the celebration, including a return up the aisle with her husband to 2 Become 1 performed by a string quartet.

“So, Victoria was very disappointed to not be there. She was with David (Beckham) in New York and it was the football final, the World Cup,” Chisholm said in an interview on KIIS 1065. She added, “She tried to get out of it. She isn’t the biggest football fan, she won’t mind me telling you. But the family were there and David had commitments being an ambassador for FIFA.”
