Daryl Powell has refused to be drawn on reports linking Wakefield Trinity with Hull FC centre Davy Litten after it was claimed a £100,000 bid had been accepted. The Wakefield head coach kept his focus on the immediate task ahead, saying he had no comment to make on the speculation.
Wakefield are already shaping next year’s squad and had previously shown interest in Harry Robertson earlier in the year. That move did not progress, with St Helens making it clear Robertson was their player and not for sale, and the club later reported Wakefield Trinity to the RFL.
Powell keeps focus on Leeds Rhinos
Asked about the Davy Litten reports in his press conference ahead of the game against Leeds Rhinos on Thursday, Powell was direct in his response. He said: “I’ve got no comment to make on that.”
He added: “I’m just focussing on the game and what’s important and right in front of us.”
Powell repeated the same line when the subject came up again, saying: “Like I say, I’ve got no comment on it.” He then underlined where his attention was by adding: “Just focus on the game and what we’ve got smack bang ahead of us.”
What the report means for Wakefield Trinity
The reported move for Davy Litten suggests Wakefield Trinity are still active in the market after missing out on Harry Robertson. It also fits the wider picture of a club that has already added several players for next year, while still looking ahead to where the squad may need strengthening.
