WWE has revealed the World Heavyweight Championship No. 1 Contender's Tournament bracket, and eight luchadores are now lined up for a path to Roman Reigns. The bracket was shown before the opening matches were held, giving fans a clear look at how the next challenger will be determined.
The winner of the tournament will challenge Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship on Monday, Sept. 14, in Mexico City on Monday Night Raw. That makes the next few weeks a straightforward sprint: win the bracket, then get the title opportunity.
The opening matches are already on the calendar
The tournament begins to take shape immediately. On Monday's edition of Raw, Penta will face Laredo Kid. On Saturday, Aug. 15, Psycho Clown will take on La Parka on Lucha Libre AAA. Then on Aug. 17, Raw will feature Rey Fénix vs. El Fiscal and Dragon Lee vs. El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr.
That schedule gives the tournament a mix of WWE and AAA spotlight, with the field spread across multiple dates before the final winner is decided. It also creates a strong runway for the matchup that matters most: the champion waiting at the end of it all.
Why Penta stands out
Penta is the clearest early favorite in the bracket. He recently won the Intercontinental Championship against Dominik Mysterio on the March 2 edition of Raw and later held that title for 153 days. He also brings prior AAA success into the tournament, which only adds to the case that he could be the one to emerge from the field.
Still, the bracket is only the starting point. With eight luchadores involved and multiple matches still ahead, the road to Roman Reigns is set, but the winner will have to earn every step of it.
