Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly set a £145m valuation for Bradley Barcola, a figure that could make any move to Liverpool extremely difficult to complete.
That asking price is the clearest sign yet that PSG are in no hurry to let go of the 23-year-old winger, even after becoming open to offers earlier this summer. Reports this week indicated preliminary talks with Liverpool had taken place, but the gap between the two clubs is said to be significant.
Why Barcola is attracting interest
Barcola offered plenty to like last season, scoring 13 goals in 49 appearances for Paris Saint-Germain and adding seven assists in all competitions. He also featured against Arsenal and Liverpool in the Champions League, which would have given both clubs a direct look at his pace and versatility.
The French forward is capable of operating on both flanks and as a striker, a trait that adds to his value. That kind of flexibility is one reason he has emerged as a target, especially for clubs looking to strengthen their attacking options.
PSG are standing firm
PSG initially ruled out selling Barcola this summer before later becoming open to offers, but the club’s current position suggests they still hold all the leverage. A £145m valuation, or about €128million, is a major hurdle for Liverpool and also shapes the broader market for a player who is only 23.
Arsenal are also reported to have had interest in Barcola, with that links emerging in the context of their missing out on Vinicius Junior. For now, though, the key issue remains the same: Liverpool and PSG are far apart on price, and unless that changes, the deal looks hard to push forward.
