Jon Rahm clinched his third consecutive season-long Individual Championship at LIV Golf New York on Sunday, closing out another dominant run in the league’s individual standings even after a 5-over 76 in the finale.
Rahm had already won twice this season, and that was enough to secure the title once the final round wrapped up at the season-ending event. He finished the year with 36 LIV Golf starts and now has three straight Individual Championship crowns, a stretch that firmly establishes him as the standard at the top of the league’s individual race.
A season title despite a rough finish
Rahm’s final round was not the kind of finish he wanted. He said, “It’s been a great year,” but added that there was “a little sour taste in my mouth because of how badly I played this week. But it’s been something to be proud of.”
That assessment fit the day. The championship was secured by his body of work over the full season, not by Sunday alone. Rahm’s 41st-place finish in the final event did not change the bigger picture: two wins, multiple high finishes, and enough consistency to stay ahead in the season-long chase.
Niemann wins the event, Crushers set a record
While Rahm locked up the individual title, Joaquin Niemann closed the year with the LIV Golf New York tournament win. He entered the final round with a two-stroke lead, then held off a charge from Harold Varner III, who was tied with him through 11 holes before making his first bogey of the day at the 12th.
Niemann answered with a 58-foot birdie putt at the 13th hole and then sealed the victory with an eagle putt on the par-5 15th. “A great feeling to have, especially coming down the stretch on how tough this golf course is,” Niemann said. He added that he “was going to be pretty happy with two putts there, and it was quite a surprise to make that one,” before calling it “a big moment.”
Crushers GC also left New York with a notable milestone. The team opened Thursday at 11 over and tied for 11th, but the group still completed the season with a league-record 11 regular-season tournament titles. Bryson DeChambeau said, “It’s just the truth – when golf courses get tougher, it seems like we shine more for some reason,” while Anirban Lahiri added that when the team gets into contention on Sunday, “all our tails go up,” because “we really want to win pretty badly.”
For Rahm, the title confirms a three-year run of individual dominance. For LIV Golf, the final weekend delivered both a repeat champion in the season-long race and a strong finish from the teams and players chasing him.
