Downtown Baltimore drivers should expect a busy stretch around M&T Bank Stadium this week, with the Baltimore City Department of Transportation tentatively scheduling road and lane closures from Monday, Aug. 10 through Friday, Aug. 14 for BTS concerts.
The sold-out shows are scheduled for Monday and Tuesday at 8 p.m. as BTS brings its Arirang World Tour to M&T Bank Stadium. For concertgoers, the bigger issue is not just the crowds inside the stadium, but the traffic management outside it, where limited parking and heavy congestion are expected.
When the closures are expected
Concert-related road closures were scheduled from about 3 p.m. until 1 a.m. the following morning on both concert days. The city also tentatively scheduled broader road and lane closures downtown from Monday, Aug. 10 through Friday, Aug. 14.
That timing overlaps with construction on Warner Street, which was already affecting traffic between Worcester and West Ostend streets. Drivers moving through Downtown Baltimore should plan for slower trips and extra delays near the stadium district.
Transit options for concertgoers
The MTA is set to offer extra help for riders heading to the shows. On Monday and Tuesday beginning at 5 p.m., Light Rail express shuttle buses were scheduled from Glen Burnie/Cromwell and Timonium Fairgrounds to Camden Station.
For the trip home, the MARC Camden Line was scheduled to offer late-night return service from Camden Station at 11:55 p.m. on both concert nights. That gives fans a rail option after the concerts end, rather than relying only on cars and rideshares in a crowded area.
Parking and stadium entry
Drivers without stadium parking passes were advised to park at Lot O and use the parent and ride shuttle to reach the venue. The setup is meant to reduce pressure on streets closest to the stadium and keep traffic moving in the immediate area.
Fans should also note which entrances will not be open. Gates E, F and South Gate will not be available for entry, while Gate A West will be the main entry point for VIP guests.
With a severe thunderstorm watch issued for parts of Maryland until 9 p.m., concertgoers and commuters alike may also want to build in extra time and check conditions before heading downtown. For general questions, the city directed people to call 311 or 443-263-2220.
