Jeremy Bowman Sees Cava Stock Pop on $360.1 Million Revenue

Cava stock was set up for a move on Tuesday. Cava Group was due to report second-quarter earnings after hours, and analysts were looking for $360.1 million in revenue plus $0.18 in GAAP earnings per share.

Jeremy Bowman said the shares could pop if the company delivered another beat-and-raise report. That would mean results above expectations and a higher outlook, the combination traders usually reward fastest when a stock has already pulled back from a recent peak.

28.3% revenue growth bar

28.3% was the expected year-over-year revenue increase for the quarter, taking sales to $360.1 million from the prior-year base. The earnings line was supposed to rise too, from $0.16 to $0.18 in GAAP earnings per share, a two-cent gain that shows how much investors were asking the business to do in a single quarter.

6% was Cava stock’s gain year to date, even after a sharp slide from its high in April. That split matters because the stock was still positive over the year while also giving back a chunk of its earlier advance, leaving the report to do more than just clear an ordinary earnings hurdle.

Chipotle and Placer.ai signals

2.2% was Chipotle’s second-quarter comparable sales growth, its strongest reading in six quarters. In the same period, Placer.ai said foot traffic to Cava stores, including new locations, rose 24.6%, a separate sign that customer counts were still moving higher even as momentum slowed in recent quarters.

Less than six times sales was the valuation attached to the stock, a level that leaves little room for a weak update when expectations already call for rapid growth. If Cava clears the revenue bar and nudges guidance higher, the share price has room to respond; if not, the April setback can keep weighing on the stock even after a 2023 IPO that had produced double-digit comparable sales growth for much of the run.

Will Cava Group beat estimates

Tuesday’s report was the immediate test for whether Cava Group can turn traffic growth into a cleaner earnings message. Jeremy Bowman’s call rested on a simple setup: another beat-and-raise report would give Cava stock a fresh catalyst, while anything short of that would leave the market focusing on the slowdown that followed the company’s earlier surge.
