Miltiadis Tentoglou was scheduled to take part in the men’s long jump final at 22:16, making him the main Greek evening highlight on a day when several athletes were due to appear across the European Athletics Championships programme.
The timing matters because Tentoglou’s final comes late in a packed schedule for Greece, with action spread from the morning through to the night session. That gives the men’s long jump final a natural centre stage, especially with a series of other Greek names also set to feature during the day.
A busy day for Greek athletes
The programme opened early, with the men’s high jump qualification scheduled to begin at 12:33, when Andreas Merlos was set for Group B and Antonis Mitas for Group A. Konstantinos Roumtsios was then scheduled to compete in the 110m hurdles qualifying round at 13:40.
Christos Pavlidis was due in Group B of the men’s discus qualification at 14:00, while Polyniki Despollari was scheduled to line up in the first heat of the women’s 800m qualifying round at 14:05. Giorgos Levantinos followed at 14:40 in the first heat of the men’s 400m hurdles qualifying round.
Tentoglou leads the evening session
The evening programme brought more Greek involvement, with Katerina Stefanidi scheduled for Group A of the women’s pole vault qualification at 21:05 and Alexandra Adamopoulou for Group B at the same time. Christos Frantzeskakis was then due to contest the men’s hammer throw final at 21:10.
That set the stage for Tentoglou at 22:16, before Sokhna Francks was scheduled to compete in the third semifinal of the men’s 400m at 23:00. For Greece, it was a day built around depth across the championships, but Tentoglou’s final remained the standout appointment in the evening session.
