Chelsea and Manchester United have both shown interest in Myles Lewis-Skelly during the transfer window, adding another twist to Arsenal's summer planning around one of their most talked-about young players.
The 19-year-old has already made 75 appearances for Arsenal and was rewarded with a new five-year contract after his breakthrough 2024-25 season, when he emerged as one of the best young full-backs in the Premier League. Even so, his standing at the club has not been entirely straightforward. Lewis-Skelly fell behind Riccardo Calafiori and Piero Hincapie as Arsenal's third-choice left-back last season, which is part of why his future has become a talking point again.
That does not mean Arsenal are actively planning to move him on. In April, club sources indicated they would look to recoup a minimum combined £100m for Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri if offers were to be considered, and in January one source told Sport that Lewis-Skelly was offered to Manchester United. Those details matter because they show Arsenal have already had to think carefully about how they value his long-term role.

Lewis-Skelly's end-of-season resurgence in his natural position of centre midfield may have prompted Arsenal to reassess his status during the transfer window. He has also been one of Arsenal's standout performers in pre-season, starting the past two friendlies before the Community Shield against Manchester City on Sunday. That makes the situation more complicated than a simple depth-chart discussion.
For Manchester United, the left-back picture is described as uncertain. Patrick Dorgu has played in an advanced role and Luke Shaw's fitness record is patchy, so a versatile young player with Premier League experience is easy to understand as a target. Chelsea's interest is less obvious on paper because they already have two left-backs and are not in Europe, but their reported involvement still suggests Lewis-Skelly has drawn attention well beyond north London.
Arsenal now face a familiar summer question: whether a young player with real upside is part of the immediate plan, or whether strong external interest changes the calculation. Lewis-Skelly's progress, his contract, and his ability to play in more than one role all make him difficult to categorize, which is usually a sign the market will keep circling.
For now, the clearest takeaway is that Arsenal are not dealing with a fringe squad player.
