Jayme Franklin rejected a viral conspiracy theory on Wednesday after online posts said she was pressing a hidden device to keep Donald Trump awake. She answered on X with a blunt line that cut through the speculation: “I’m just pregnant you weirdos.”
White House Event on Monday
The claims grew from a Monday White House event where Franklin was seen frequently placing her hands on her stomach alongside Trump. During the same event, Trump, 80, appeared to close his eyes several times while Jay Bhattacharya spoke at an executive order signing.
Franklin is a MAGA influencer and the founder of The Conservateur, and social media users dubbed her “the zapper” after clips from the event spread online. The event also featured Trump linking childhood vaccines to autism and calling the MMR vaccine in its current single dosage “quite lethal.”
Trump and the MMR Order
Trump’s comments came during an order that recommends separating the measles, mumps and rubella vaccine into three separate doses and directs the Health and Human Services Department to develop a plan for doing so. The MMR vaccine has been administered in a single dose for more than 40 years, and it has been rigorously studied.
That backdrop made Franklin’s post the clearest response to the online theory. Her brief denial left the circulating clips in place, but it also shifted the story from speculation about a hidden device to her own explanation for why she kept touching her stomach.
