"Ash is a highly regarded leader in our system," Greenberg said on SEN on Thursday. He added, "We’ve got policies in place but we will put additional ones in place given Ash is now vice-captain." That points to a narrower practical change than a broad punishment: the response is being framed around selection safeguards, not a public removal from the role.
Monica Wright challenges CA
Monica Wright publicly questioned the lack of action by Cricket Australia after the affair, called attention to "a clear power imbalance" when a senior member of staff has an affair with a junior, and said Gardner should not be allowed to stay as vice-captain. Her criticism puts pressure on CA to explain what it did once it had been told about the relationship, rather than only what it plans to do now.
