Colt Ford was pulled through a windshield after his tour bus crashed into a grassy ditch on the side of a road while he was headed to a show in Germany. He said the crash left him with a broken shoulder, and he posted the update on Instagram on Wednesday, August 12.

“One minute you're headed to Germany for a show and prepping for single release the next thing you know your Bus is in the ditch and you're getting pulled through a windshield with a broken shoulder by First Responders” — Colt Ford wrote. He added, “The crew is a little banged up but we're all still here.”
No fatalities were reported in the crash, which keeps this from becoming a worse travel disaster even as it cuts into an international performance run. Tracy Byrd wrote, “Dang, brother. Glad y'all are OK, but a broken shoulder, not the break you needed. Prayers for a quick recovery, hang in there, bud,” while Drew Baldridge said, “Dang, man. So glad y'all are OK.”

Jake Owen added, “Glad y'all are OK, dude. You have endured some life. Love ya.” The reaction fits the scale of the setback: Ford was already back on the road in 2025 after a near-fatal heart attack in 2024, and he has now taken another hit while traveling to work.
Ford said that after performing at Dierks Bentley's Whiskey Row in Arizona, he was declared clinically dead three times and later underwent 20 hours of surgery. He also said returning to tour brought crazy anxiety and nerves, which makes this crash more than a routine injury update; it lands on a performer who has already had to rebuild his road life once.

Ford described that recovery on the Try That In A Small Town podcast, saying, “It's just been a traumatic, crazy experience, guys. I don't even remember coming out here to do a show in Phoenix. I died three times.” He also said, “This Mayo Clinic out here in Phoenix, if it was going to happen, God could not have had me in a better place.”
For now, the practical read is simple: Ford is injured, the crew avoided worse harm, and the trip to Germany stopped hard before it reached the stage. What caused the bus to leave the road and end up in the ditch has not been laid out, and that leaves the accident itself as the part that still needs an answer.
