Kamari Ramsey made his first interception in a Houston Texans uniform just before halftime against the Chargers, jumping on a Trey Lance pass on first-and-10 and returning it to the Chargers' 48.
It was the kind of turnover that can change the feel of a half, especially with the Chargers deep inside Houston territory and just outside the red zone. For a rookie safety, it was an encouraging moment and a clear sign of awareness in a key situation.
Houston had the chance, but not the points
The Texans did create a short-field opportunity from Ramsey's takeaway, but they were unable to turn it into points. As time expired in the first half, Chris Freeman missed a 59-yard field goal, so Houston came away empty despite the interception.
That left Ramsey's play as the bright spot of the sequence. He did his job by making the ball change hands, but the Texans could not finish the possession and reward the defense for the turnover.
Even so, a first interception is a notable moment for any young defensive back. Ramsey found the play just before halftime, and Houston will hope it is the first of many.
