India Independence Day visitors heading to the Red Fort will have access to 25 cloak rooms, free metro travel and wheelchair help on August 15, 2026. Chaitanya Dhawan reported the arrangements on August 14, 2026, with metro service set to start at 4 am for invitees.
About 200 volunteers will guide visitors to their designated enclosures. The group includes 100 NCC cadets and 100 volunteers from MY Bharat, with the volunteers stationed along the routes leading to the Red Fort.

The cloak rooms will operate across six locations, giving visitors more places to leave belongings before entering the ceremony area. Parking will be available at Parade Ground for visitors carrying valid parking labels, while NCC cadets will also be deployed at metro stations and parking areas to assist visitors who need wheelchairs.
QR codes will be shared through e-invitations, and free metro travel will be available to invitees. Stronger ramps and additional stairs have been installed between upper and lower Subhash Marg to improve movement toward the site.
Google Maps and Mappls Maps
Traffic restrictions and diversions on the day of the main ceremony will appear on Google Maps and Mappls Maps. That creates a mixed picture for visitors: the government is widening access with free metro rides, cloak rooms and wheelchair support, while the route to the Red Fort will still be shaped by restrictions around the ceremony.
Rain ponchos will be provided to invitees at Madhav Das Park and August 15 Park, and dignitaries at the Rampart will also receive rain protection. This year's Independence Day invitation card features Seva Teerth and the Dharam Chakra, tying the visitor plan to the same event materials that will reach invitees before they travel.

The practical question for visitors is whether they use the QR codes in the e-invitations early enough to secure the free metro travel and follow the parking and enclosure directions attached to them. On the day of the ceremony, the clearest path is to arrive through the metro start at 4 am, use the assigned support points and move through the designated access routes rather than improvising near the Red Fort.
