Sydelle Noel said Tamara Green in Reacher forced her into a routine built around left-handed firearms work, constant running and recovery. The role lands on Prime Video’s season 4 on August 12, with new episodes rolling out weekly through September.

“For skin care, I always start my morning with an ice-water face plunge, especially when you have a 5 a.m. call time!” Noel said. She added that she used cold plunges regularly and made them part of the routine “with all the training and stunts we were doing.”

Noel's five-month routine

The five-month shoot turned that routine into a schedule: hot yoga, acupuncture, cupping and weekly massages sat alongside the cold work. Noel also used fresh aloe straight from the plant, sea moss, flaxseed gel and Jamaican castor oil on her skin, a practical mix for a production that demanded near-constant movement.

She said the physical burden was different from her earlier work on GLOW and Black Panther. GLOW was a controlled environment centered on strength and wrestling, while Black Panther involved weapons training with a bo staff. Reacher asked for more: Tamara has to function as a detective who can keep up with Jack Reacher’s world, and that meant firearms training done left-handed plus stunt choreography that kept Noel running.

Protective styles on set

Hair maintenance became part of the workday, not an afterthought. Noel asked for Tamara’s hair to stay in a protective style before she booked the role, and the production settled on twists and a ponytail during the five months of shooting. She said her hair was re-braided about once a month, a pace that kept the style workable across the schedule.

“Great question. As a Black woman, hair is always something you have to think about on set,” Noel said. Trason kept Tamara’s makeup very natural, which left the hair and skin routine carrying more of the load from day to day.

Noel’s view of beauty now runs through function, not polish. “Beauty for me has really become more about feeling confident, being healthy and being comfortable in my own skin,” she said, and that is the right lens for reading her Reacher prep: not cosmetic branding, but a working method for surviving a six-day-a-week shoot.

That makes Tamara Green more than a fresh addition to the season’s conspiracy setup after a subway bombing. For viewers, the practical question is whether the show lets her detective storyline breathe beyond the opening machinery, but Noel’s preparation already tells you how physical the part is before the first episode drops.
