Erik Voss posted the first official look at Doctor Doom's alternate suit from D23 Marvel on August 14, 2026, giving Avengers: Doomsday a new visual ahead of its theatrical release. Marvel Studios used the D23 Expo display to show a different take on the MCU villain after the San Diego Comic-Con armor reveal.
Doctor Doom at D23 Expo
The D23 display kept Doctor Doom's metallic mask, hooded cape and dark green colors, but the look read more plain and cleaner than the battle-ready armor shown at San Diego Comic-Con. The cape now appears held by a single metal clasp on the left, and the overall design looks more neutral, with a medieval-inspired finish that leans closer to Latverian style.
That difference matters because the costume is not just a repeat of the earlier reveal. Fans of Avengers who had only seen the San Diego Comic-Con version now have a second official design to compare, and the contrast suggests Marvel is shaping Doctor Doom's presentation with more than one visual mode before the film reaches theaters.

“First official look at Doctor Doom's alternate suit in Avengers Doomsday, on display at D23” — Erik Voss wrote on X on August 14, 2026. A fan visiting the D23 Expo also shared a new look that had not appeared in official Marvel Studios promotional footage, adding a fresh angle to a reveal that had mostly been kept under wraps.
The new image gives Marvel a cleaner, less armored version of Doctor Doom without dropping the core elements tied to the character. The mask, hood, cape and color palette remain intact, but the reduced battle feel leaves room for a different kind of screen presence than the earlier San Diego Comic-Con armor.
Avengers: Doomsday in 2026
Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled for theatrical release on December 18, 2026, which puts this costume reveal squarely in the film's final stretch of promotion. Most of the information about Doctor Doom remains under wraps at Marvel, so the suit itself is doing more storytelling than a plot synopsis would.
Rumors say Doctor Doom will first serve as a savior to multiverse incursions and later turn on the heroes from the Avengers, X-Men and Fantastic Four, but the costume reveal does not settle that. What it does settle is the visual language: Marvel is offering a second, cleaner Doom before release, and that usually means the character's full role is being held back for the movie itself. Secret Wars is slated for December 17, 2027, so this is only the first stop in the character's longer run.
