Maya Boyd will play Storm in Marvel’s X-Men film, the clearest sign yet that the reboot is moving from planning into casting. Marvel unveiled the ensemble at D23 on Friday night, giving the project its first full public lineup and fixing a May 5, 2028 release date.

Sadie Sink is set as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Cyclops, Christopher Abbott as Prof. X, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost and Inde Navarrette as Rogue, with Adam Driver among the cast as Mr. Sinister. Kevin Feige appeared onstage with the cast, and Jake Schreier is directing the film.

Adam Driver used a video appearance to address the room, saying, "Kevin and I have been talking for years about me joining MCU" and that he had "found something perfect with characters I feel very deeply about." The casting reveal makes the project more concrete, but it also shows how Marvel is still using a staged rollout: some names land at the event, while others arrive as formal confirmation of what had circulated before.
May 5, 2028 is now the date that matters for anyone tracking the reboot’s pace. The cast list gives Marvel a clearer path to market the film around recognizable roles, and Boyd’s Storm is the new center of gravity in that lineup.
