Diego Galicia will open Filleman House this fall at 517 E. Grayson St., giving San Antonio diners searching for restaurants near me a new brasserie-style option near Pearl. The restaurant will take over the former home of Restaurant Claudine and brings a clear shift for one of Mixtli’s chefs.
Filleman House will serve brasserie classics including prime rib, steak au poivre, a dry-aged burger paired with a martini at the bar, and oysters in the garden. Galicia said, "Filleman House is the restaurant I've always craved to create," and added, "After years of telling the stories of Mexico through Mixtli, I wanted to build something that reflects another part of who I am, not just as a chef, but as a diner. Lauren Beckman will lead the beverage program, bringing the 2024 Michelin Guide Texas Service Award to the project. She will run both a high-octane and zero-proof cocktail program, which gives the restaurant a bar program built for guests who want spirits as well as guests who do not.

The opening comes as Zorbas Greek Mediterranean Cuisine at 2110 NW Military Hwy in Castle Hills has closed after almost two decades in business. Zorbas opened in 2008, was owned by a Jordanian family, and said on Facebook, "After 18 years of serving our community, we are happy to announce that we have flipped our sign to closed for the last time."
Zorbas was better known for baba ghanouj and gyros, so the change is not just a new address on the dining map. A longtime neighborhood spot is gone, and Filleman House is stepping into a different role nearby with a menu built around steakhouse and brasserie dishes rather than the Greek-Mediterranean fare Castle Hills regulars knew.
