Wendi McLendon-Covey has joined Romy and Michele 2, the sequel to Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion. The film is already shooting in Los Angeles, and the cast expansion gives the project more momentum while its story stays tightly controlled.

20th has rounded out the cast with McLendon-Covey’s addition, but character details are being kept under wraps. That is the useful read here: the sequel is not sitting on a single reunion pairing, it is building out a larger ensemble while production is active.
She is also in NBC’s St. Denis Medical, which returns for its third season on November 2. That makes the new film role a clean overlap for her schedule and keeps her visible across film and television at the same time.

Alan Cumming, Janeane Garofalo, Camryn Manheim and Julia Campbell are set to reprise their roles. Keegan-Michael Key, Rob Huebel, Breckin Meyer, Patrick Warburton, Nathan Lee Graham, Anna Baryshnikov and Sofia Wylie are set for new roles, so the cast is already operating like a full ensemble rather than a two-hander.
