In May, Ray J was knocked out in the second round inside the UFC Apex, then checked himself into a hospital for evaluation of a possible concussion and his previously reported heart issues. He later told The Breakfast Club, "I got a lot of trainers," and added, "I'm just making sure I'm conditioned and I'm a try to pull it through."
"Last time, I was extremely confident," he said. "This time, you gotta humble yourself and try to get the win first." That is the practical change here: Ray J is not walking into a novelty bout with the same confidence he carried before the loss, and the fight now carries the extra weight of a recent medical scare.
Orlando Brown's cash slap
Brown helped push the feud into public view by slapping Ray J across the face with a stack of cash during a promotional press conference. In the months before the fight, he also kept mocking him by calling him "Brandy's brother," a taunt that kept the dispute alive long enough to become a booked matchup rather than a one-off argument.
The card is not built around this fight alone. Tesehki is scheduled against Big Lex, professional fights make up the rest of the event, and Claressa Shields and Kaye Scott headline that professional portion, so Ray J and Brown sit inside a larger televised package instead of an isolated sideshow.
