That makes the final receiver battle a straightforward head-to-head competition between rookies, with special teams value likely playing a major role. Smith’s draft status does not guarantee anything, but in a crowded room, every edge matters.
The Cowboys do not appear to be looking for six receivers right now, so the winner of that last spot may be the one who offers the clearest path to active game-day utility. Based on the current projection, that player is Smith.
