Katie McGraw flags 86º Sunday storm risk in Ohio Tornado Warnings

Katie McGraw says Ohio tornado warnings are possible Sunday as storm chances rise late Saturday in Northeast Ohio. Friday night and much of Saturday are expected to stay mainly dry, but the forecast shifts quickly after that.

McGraw said the first rain this weekend should arrive south of US-30, with Southern Holmes into Tuscarawas Counties seeing it first. An isolated downpour cannot be ruled out as morning showers exit by midday, and the main batch of energy is expected to arrive Saturday evening.

Saturday and Sunday in Northeast Ohio

Saturday is expected to be more active than Friday, with a high of 84º, while Sunday rises to 86º and brings numerous showers and thunderstorms. Some of those storms could become strong to severe, and damaging wind is listed as the primary concern.

That setup leaves a narrow window for outdoor plans: dry weather holds through much of Saturday, then rain increases Saturday night and becomes more widespread Sunday. The forecast also points to stubborn clouds and high humidity, conditions that make it harder for the atmosphere to reset between rounds of rain.

Power of 5 Weather Team

Trent Magill, Katie McGraw, Phil Sakal and Allan Nossoff are listed with the Power of 5 Weather Team. Monday brings a few thunderstorms with a high of 77º, while Tuesday turns dry again at 78º.

For anyone planning travel or outdoor time, the practical move is to use the mainly dry stretch before late Saturday and keep an eye on updates once storms begin building south of US-30. How strong and widespread Sunday’s storms become will decide whether this stays a rain-heavy weekend or turns into a more serious severe-weather setup.
