Push Square reports that Helldivers 2 joined PlayStation Plus Extra worldwide on August 12, giving subscribers immediate access before the rest of the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog for August arrives later in the month. The rollout splits the month into two waves: one title now, the rest on a set schedule.
Helldivers 2 on August 12
Helldivers 2 is the sharpest part of the August PlayStation Plus Game Catalog because it lands first, worldwide, for PlayStation Plus Extra members. Arrowhead Game Studios' multiplayer co-op shooter supports up to three friends and keeps friendly fire always on, which makes the timing more than a routine catalog add: subscribers can start playing it before the larger batch opens up.
The August PlayStation Plus Game Catalog also includes Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, Vampire Survivors and Hell is Us. That puts a broad spread of genres into the same month, from a third-person action-adventure game with a semi-open world to a gothic horror casual game with rogue-lite elements and a story set in 15th-century Bohemia.
August 18 after the split
August 18 is when all other titles in the August PlayStation Plus Game Catalog were scheduled to become available unless indicated otherwise. That makes Helldivers 2 the exception, not the rule, and gives PlayStation Plus Extra members a head start while the rest of the lineup waits for the later release date.
Henry of Skalitz, the central character in Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, and Rémi, the United Nations peacekeeper in Hell is Us, sit at opposite ends of the month’s lineup. Hell is Us is the only title in the August PlayStation Plus Game Catalog with a later regional date, arriving on August 25 in the US, the UK and Japan. For subscribers, the practical takeaway is simple: Helldivers 2 is available now, the wider August batch follows on August 18, and Hell is Us waits longer in three markets.
