Ranvir Singh has taken Pralay into filming in Mumbai, moving the film from months of pre-production into live production. The project centers on survival as the world faces catastrophe, with Singh leading the cast and also producing the film.
Birla Studios and True Story Films
Pralay is being made by Birla Studios, True Story Films, and Maa Kasam Films, with Jai Mehta directing and Kalyani Priyadarshan in a pivotal role. The production is shooting at live locations across the Mumbai region and has brought in talent from India and abroad, which points to a scale built for field work rather than a contained set.
Hansal Mehta on Pralay
Hansal Mehta has called it "It’s the kind of film that India hasn’t made yet, the kind of film that India hasn’t seen before," a line that fits the way the project has been positioned since pre-production. That framing is sharper when the film is now actually on the floor: the promise is no longer a slate announcement, it has to survive the realities of location shooting.
Jai Mehta after Lootere
Jai Mehta brings a recent run that includes Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story in 2020 and Lootere in 2024, and Pralay is now the next test of whether that television-to-film momentum holds in a larger action setting. For Singh, the physically demanding role lands alongside producer duties, while his next project after this one is the Dhurandhar and Dhurandhar – The Revenge duology.
