“I love being part of this gang!” Nigella Lawson said as Channel 4 shared the first look at The Great British Bake Off’s new season. The image puts Lawson, Paul Hollywood, Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding together again, while the show’s judging line-up changes for the series ahead.

Lawson joins Hollywood

Nigella Lawson is joining the judging line-up this year, taking a place alongside Paul Hollywood after Prue Leith departed. That swap gives the series a visible reset without changing the basic format that has kept The Great British Bake Off on air for years. In practice, the new panel gives the next run a fresh centre of gravity before a brand-new group of amateur bakers arrives in the tent next month.

Channel 4 added to the push with an Instagram caption that read, “Life is about to get sweeter. Bake Off is coming soon...” The first-look picture shows Paul, Alison, Nigella and Noel embracing and grinning in front of a pink backdrop, a neat piece of promotion that does the job fast: it tells viewers the season is close and the lineup is already locked in for public rollout.

Alison on the pairing

Alison Hammond has already pointed to the dynamic between Lawson and Hollywood, and she did not present it as polite harmony. Speaking on Lorraine, she said, “Obviously we've started, so I've been watching. I'm telling you, the chemistry between her and Paul is unbelievable.”

She added, “Look, you can feel it, can’t you? Don't they look good-looking? Look at them!” and then sharpened the point with, “Honestly, they're so good together. Because I'll be honest with you, they don't always agree, and it's so good!” That friction gives the new season a built-in talking point before the bakers even step into the tent.

Fourth outing for the duo

Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding are returning as presenters for their fourth outing as a duo. That continuity matters because the front-of-house pair is unchanged even as the judging table is reworked, so the series can sell stability to returning viewers while still advertising a new on-screen mix.

Paul Hollywood summed up the mood in the comments under the first-look post, writing, “This has been a dream this year, thanks Gang,” while Lawson replied, “I love being part of this gang!” The real test now is simple: whether the new line-up can make next month’s arrival of the amateur bakers feel like a reset rather than a repeat.
