Jill Roberts said the Jill Roberts and Tommy Morrison relationship was over after she learned that Tommy Morrison had appeared in court earlier this year on charges of offences under Solemn Procedure. The Boston singer said she had already told him the split was final after “some things that happened.”
Roberts, 42, said she was speaking publicly because many people had followed the relationship online. She said she had booked flights to Scotland for the end of August before the breakup, showing how quickly the personal plans changed after the court case became public.
Boston meeting on June 16
The pair met on June 16 during the World Cup in Boston, when Scotland fans were at Fenway Park. Roberts later said the two began messaging on WhatsApp after a social media connection helped them get in touch.
Tommy Morrison, 38, later spent more than £100 on an Uber from Gillette Stadium after Scotland’s defeat to Morocco in Foxborough so he could see her. That sequence turned a brief meeting into a long-distance relationship that drew attention before the breakup was announced.

In the emotional video, Roberts said, “I don’t think he’s a bad person. I think he’s got a lot of great qualities and charisma. But, he has some unresolved connections with the past that he needs to resolve or pursue.” She also said, “I am walking away from this relationship with my head held high, feeling good and having clarity on it.”
She added, “If I have learned anything since coming out of religious control, getting divorced and really finding myself in the last five or six years, is that life is very short. It can be taken away so quickly.”
End of August plans
Roberts said the relationship had felt public before she chose to explain the split, and that was part of why she addressed it directly. The unresolved court case remains the reason she gave for ending it, leaving the breakup tied to the legal case rather than to the travel plans she had made for the end of August.
