Sam Trammell Joins Six New Prison Break Cast Additions

Hulu has added six actors to the Prison Break reboot, giving the project a clearer ensemble before release. Sam Trammell, Sean Bridgers, Chris Coy, Kerry Bishé, Robin Weigert, and Jean Louisa Kelly are all set for recurring roles in the new series.

Elgin James Leads Prison Break

Elgin James is steering the reboot as showrunner, executive producer, and director of the pilot, with 20th Television behind the project. Dawn Olmstead returns as an executive producer, alongside Paul Scheuring, Marty Adelstein, and Neal Moritz, which keeps key franchise oversight in familiar hands while the cast expands.

The new series follows an ex-soldier turned corrections officer who takes a job at one of the deadliest prisons in America to prove how far she will go for someone she loves. That premise moves the reboot away from a simple repeat of Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows and toward a fresh setup built around a new lead and a prison setting that can support a wider recurring ensemble.

Sean Bridgers As Hollis

Sean Bridgers plays Hollis, a devoted family man trying to rebuild his life. Chris Coy takes the role of Mule, a dangerous and unpredictable inmate, while Kerry Bishé is Mary Smith, a mysterious and dangerous female inmate.

Robin Weigert plays Chaplain Bannon, the prison chaplain who counsels inmates in need, and Jean Louisa Kelly portrays Margaret, the new matriarch of a power-brokering political family. Sam Trammell is Jarrod Boggs, a powerful figure with deep roots in West Virginia.

Six Roles, One Reboot

Six recurring parts give the reboot room to build beyond a single lead thread, and that is the practical change readers should take from the casting news. A larger supporting cast also signals that the series is being shaped as an ensemble piece before any release date is set.

The unanswered question is the one franchise watchers care about most: whether Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows will appear at all. For now, the clearest sign of where this Prison Break reboot is headed is the cast list already in place, not a return to the original center of gravity.
