Monzo Down Hits Thousands as App Access Fails Today

Thousands of Monzo Bank users found Monzo down today, and some were blocked from transferring money after logging into the app. The bank said it had moved into Monzo Stand-In while it worked to restore normal service.

Monzo Bank app issues today

Users who opened the app saw a message saying, “We’re experiencing issues. We’ll let you know when they’re resolved.”

Monzo account holders could still see their balances and use their cards. That meant some everyday functions stayed live even as transfer features failed for many users.

Monzo Stand-In and transfers

A Monzo spokesperson said, “We’re currently experiencing a technical issue and are working to resolve this as soon as possible.”

Monzo also said customers could still do most things on the app, including sending bank transfers, making card payments, and using ATM withdrawals. That sits awkwardly beside the reports from many Monzo users who said they could not transfer money, and it is the difference that matters for anyone trying to move cash right now.

DownDetector and Santander UK

DownDetector showed a sharp increase in outage reports for Monzo and Santander at the same time, and Santander users saw a screen reading, “Santander UK isn’t responding.”

For Monzo customers, the practical question is whether the transfer problem clears before they need to pay someone or move funds. The bank has said it is working to resolve the technical issue as soon as possible, but it has not given a recovery time.
