Chris Reed Says Wolverine Ps5 Controller Preorders Are Live

Chris Reed looked at the Battle Yellow Wolverine PS5 controller and said, "I love it." Sony has now put that DualSense Wireless Controller, plus Wolverine-themed PS5 hardware, up for preorder ahead of Marvel’s Wolverine on September 15.

Battle Yellow and Adamantium white

The preorder lineup covers a limited-edition PS5 Digital Edition bundle, console covers, and a DualSense Wireless Controller. The hardware comes in black with either Battle Yellow or Adamantium white, so this is not a single bundle aimed at one kind of buyer.

In IGN, Reed singled out the Battle Yellow controller’s three jagged yellow claw slashes across the touchpad and left grip, along with gray weathering, yellow sticks, and yellow face-button and D-pad markings. That kind of detail is the whole pitch here: the controller is doing the visual work on its own, while the bundle adds the rest of the system package for someone starting from scratch.

PS5 Digital Edition bundle

The PS5 Digital Edition bundle pairs the Wolverine-themed PS5 Digital console with the yellow-and-black controller and a digital code for Marvel’s Wolverine. The console itself carries an etching of Wolverine’s angry, yelling face at the top and a triple slash running diagonally down the side, which ties the hardware directly to the game rather than treating it like a generic color swap.

Owners of a PS5 Slim get a different route: Wolverine-themed console covers instead of the full bundle. Those standard PS5 console covers include the pieces needed to deck out a Slim PS5 whether it is the Digital Edition or not, which makes the line more flexible than a one-box release.

PlayStation Direct and beyond

PlayStation Direct and a handful of other retailers are taking preorders, but the metallic white color scheme is a PlayStation Direct exclusive. That split matters because the preorder is broad enough to reach more buyers, yet the most unusual finish is still held back behind one storefront.

Owners of a PS5 Pro can go even further, with Wolverine-themed console covers in the yellow design or a metallic white set. The yellow PS5 Pro cover set includes panels for the standard digital console and the disc drive attachment, so the upgrade path is built around the hardware people already own rather than forcing everyone into the same bundle.

Marvel’s Wolverine and the hardware land on September 15, so preorder is the move if someone wants the themed setup on day one. The open question is simple: which other retailers are carrying the Wolverine-themed PS5 hardware preorder?
