Norwich City have moved quickly to add Anthony Musaba on a season-long loan from Fenerbahce, with the winger arriving after Ali Ahmed’s long-term knee ligament injury left the club needing another option out wide.

It is a straight loan deal rather than one with a buy option, and it gives Norwich a fifth senior addition to the squad this summer. For a club building towards a full Championship campaign, the appeal is obvious: they have brought in a player who already knows the division and can slot into the demands of the league without needing a long settling-in period.

Musaba completed the move after arriving in England on Monday night to undergo a medical and finalise personal terms. Norwich will hope that familiarity, combined with his pace and directness, helps them cover the gap created by Ahmed’s injury while strengthening the wider squad for the months ahead.

Why Norwich moved for Musaba

The decision to return to the market was shaped by timing as much as need. Norwich had not simply identified a want; they had been forced to react after Ahmed was ruled out for the long term in the final pre-season friendly against Osasuna. That kind of setback can change the shape of a squad very quickly.

Ben Knapper made clear why Musaba fitted the brief. “We feel he is a great fit for us and his profile really suits the demands of both our team and the league more broadly,” he said. He also pointed to the winger’s qualities, describing him as “quick, powerful, direct” and highlighting his experience “throughout Europe and in the Championship specifically.”

That Championship experience matters. Musaba previously had a spell at Sheffield Wednesday, which Norwich have cited as relevant to the move. In a league where physicality, rhythm and repeat games matter so much, a player who already understands the pace of the division can be a useful advantage.

A familiar coach and a familiar league

Musaba’s own comments suggest the move felt right from the start. He said he was “really happy and excited to be here” and explained that he had spoken to several clubs but wanted what felt like the “perfect move.”

He also pointed to the connection with Philippe Clement, saying he knew the coach from their time together at Monaco and that Clement had helped him develop both as a person and as a player. That familiarity could help Musaba settle quickly, particularly after moving again in a career that has already taken him through different leagues and systems.

Musaba said he already knows the Championship and understands how tough it is, but believes he has made plenty of progress since his previous spell in the division. For Norwich, that is the key point. This is not a project signing for later in the season. It is a player they will expect to contribute now.

With Norwich having added a fifth senior player of the summer, the message is clear: the club still see the season as something they can shape, not simply endure. Musaba arrives with the right profile, useful experience and a strong personal motivation to make the move count.
