Emraan Hashmi keeps Serial image out of Awarapan 2

Emraan Hashmi’s serial image is missing from Awarapan 2 in a way that fans noticed fast: the sequel has no kissing scene involving him. The reaction has followed the film as it proves to be a hit at the box office and reaches a total India net collection of ₹67.46 crore so far.

₹67.46 crore and the reaction

₹67.46 crore is the number now attached to Awarapan 2’s India net run, and that scale has kept attention on the film even as viewers fixate on what it left out. One viewer wrote, “If feels illegal to watch Emraan Hashmi without a kiss scene.”

“Umar ho gai hai woh wala EMRAAN HASHMI nahi raha ab (He has gotten old, now Emraan is not Emraan Hashmi),” another social post said, while a separate comment added, “He is married. He himself toned it down and stepped away from erotic movies. Atleast appreciate that.” The split response shows how quickly one missing beat can become the story around a sequel when an actor’s public image has been built over years.

Emraan Hashmi in Awarapan

Hashmi had already addressed that image in an old interaction with Hindustan Times, saying, “What happens is that when you have such a strong image, especially in a very conservative society like India, they will still hold on to it. Like, if you see people from the press conference the other day, there was still a question about the kiss that pops up. But that's India. They are still obsessed with it. You have to go out there and just play in the front foot and do something to at least show your versatility. Just go out there and be daring with the stuff that you're doing.” That line explains why the absence of a kiss in Awarapan 2 landed as more than a creative choice.

Emraan Hashmi has spent years moving across different genres and characters in Haq, Ground Zero, Chehre and Selfiee, so the sequel’s restraint fits a broader reset rather than a one-note stunt. Awarapan 2 stars Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi too, and it is directed by Nitin Kakkar.

“Sab koi yaha iss scene mein murder waala imran hashmi ko dhund raha hai (Everyone is looking for the Murder film's Emraan Hashmi),” one fan wrote, while another posted, “Emraan Bhai, kiss Disha already, it's not like Aaliyah's watching. #Awarapan2.” The jokes keep pointing back to the same contradiction: viewers expected the old image, but the sequel is selling a different version of Hashmi.

“Good that there is no kissing scene,” one reply said, and that may be the cleaner read on where Awarapan 2 stands now. The film’s box-office run has already given it room to move beyond the nostalgia of Awarapan, but the next debate will be whether Hashmi’s newer screen identity keeps replacing the one audiences keep trying to revive.
