State Farm customer dividend checks are now going out as State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance has begun distributing a record $5 billion dividend to eligible auto insurance customers. The company said millions of customers had already received payments as of a July 31 news release, and more distributions are underway nationwide.

The payout is the largest of its kind in the company’s more than 100-year history. State Farm said the dividend covers more than 49 million State Farm Mutual auto vehicles nationwide, putting the payment on a scale that reaches far beyond a single state or a narrow customer group.
State Farm said customers with an active personal auto insurance policy in 2025 are eligible for the payment. Each customer’s dividend is calculated as a percentage of the premium paid for each qualifying policy in 2025, with the percentage varying by state from 4% to 10%.
Eligible State Farm payments
Customers who have an email address on file will get instructions to choose how they want to be paid. State Farm said customers without an email address on file will receive a check by mail, while qualifying customers will be notified about a pending payment either by email or through a letter in the mail.
That means the practical step for a customer is simple: check the email account or mailbox tied to the policy. The payment method depends on whether State Farm already has an email address on file, and the dividend amount depends on the premium paid for the qualifying policy in 2025.
July 31 dividend notice
State Farm said in its July 31 news release that the distribution covers more than 49 million auto vehicles and will take several months to be completed nationwide. The company did not specify an exact completion date, so the payout is already moving while the final timing remains open.
For eligible customers, the key point is that the dividend is not a one-day transfer. It is already in motion, it will arrive through email-based instructions or mailed checks, and the size of each payment will vary by state within the 4% to 10% range.
